Chances are you have the Light Pollution map overlay enabled. You can disable it as shown:
First, tap the overlays button:
Next tap to toggle the Light Pollution overlay off:
The map should no longer appear yellow (or some other color):
Zoom out to get a better sense of light pollution
The light pollution overlay makes more sense visually if you pinch the map to zoom out as shown below:
